Judith Spriggens has been the Medical Legal Consultant at Hill, Betts & Nash since 1986, and is a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. In addition, Judith is a licensed registered nurse with over 10 years of hospital based psychiatric, medical, and surgical nursing experience and training.

Judith assists our attorneys in all personal injury matters by analyzing claims brought by plaintiffs, reviewing medical records, and insurance records to help develop causal connections between injuries and liability.  Judith also provides published theories to assist HBN attorneys at trial. Judith uses her education and experience to take the immediate steps in preserving, organizing, and preparing the complex forms, interviews, and exhibits that are required in personal injury litigation.

One of Judith’s greatest attributes as the HBN medical legal consultant, is her ability to work with our attorneys in locating competent defense medical expert witnesses necessary for the complex medical issues that may arise in maritime personal injury matters.  She also assists medical experts in the development of their expert report and expound on expert testimony for trial

Other than Judith’s daily assistance to HBN attorneys, she is on call during the entire trial phase to answer questions, assist with medical expert testimony preparation, provide medical research, analyze medical records or documents, and to further assist attorneys in the development of last minute trial testimony.

In addition to analyzing personal injury claims, Ms. Spriggens assists our clients with case management of injured persons by guiding both the clients and attorneys through the complex medical issues involved in the recovery of injured seamen prior to the institution of litigation.
